"SGI and RollerCon have come together to organize SkateSafe 2011 – an intervention designed to ensure that RollerCon attendees have a great – and safe – time; boozing, sexin’ and enjoying off-track time. The SkateSafe team of volunteers and superheroes will be out in force during RollerCon. We will be everywhere: passing out condoms, literature, incentives and information.

It's a bit of a manifesto, but a great read from a conscious brother who'd like to see room for women in his community. "When it becomes common practice to shame lady geeks, it falls on us to change that perception, and that starts with maintaining a community dedicated to tolerance. Essentially, we have to adapt and redefine what it means to be a geek, so that not only is our culture about what we love, but who we love as well."
