Planned Parenthood’s Latest Funding Cuts, and How to Help

Most people know now that the Komen Foundation, the organization that is responsible for popularizing those pink Breast Cancer Awareness ribbons and raises and distributes millions of dollars for breast cancer research, has chosen to terminate its $700,000 grant to Planned Parenthood. PP used this money to fund breast screenings for low income women all over the country. There is more information at Planned Parenthood’s site.

In response, New York City mayor, Michael Bloomberg, has committed to match new funds received by Planned Parenthood, up to $250,000. So if you’ve ever considered donating to Planned Parenthood, now might be a good time.
