The End Of An Era…

It’s official: Atomatrix is no longer an Oly Roller. She announced today on her fan page on facebook:

“It’s official…Atomatrix is moving to Arizona. My last bout with the Oly Rollers after 3 seasons and 3 National Championship games was against Gotham in November. It’s been an amazing run, I will miss my old team and city but very much looking forward to new opportunity in the sunny state of Arizona!”

In the comments, she goes on to describe the partial move of her company Atom Wheels to AZ, and eventual relocation, as well as her own future move to a new team,

“Sales/Marketing/PR and accounting will be out of Scottsdale. Eventually the entire company will move. Definitely not retiring from roller derby – will skate for a team in Arizona!”

Hockey Honey, also formerly of Oly Rollers, appears to be joining the move as well. She posts on her own facebook,

“The rumors are true! I am heading down to Scottsdale, AZ in early March to work for Atom Wheels It has been an amazing and rewarding experience playing with the Oly Rollers but all good things must come to an end! I am planning on continuing my derby career with Team Bionic and a yet to be determined team in AZ. I will miss the pacific northwest BUT I am really looking forward to the sun.”

Looks like Arizona and the Southwest have a lot of interesting new developments to look forward to in roller derby this year!
