The Winningest Team In Roller Derby: Now With New Data!

A friend of Derbylife posed this question to the DL team last week: Who is the winningest team in roller derby? She put this to the DNN family, and Justice Feelgood Marshall was kind enough to crunch the numbers.

“I used Flat Track Stats, so these numbers include any WFTDA sanctioned bout, which I think is a fair comparison since Championships-level teams play the majority of their games against other high-level teams with a more-or-less even smattering of total mismatches over their history. Here’s what I came up with:

Winningest teams by % of sanctioned WFTDA wins (over 30 wins)

1. Oly: 38-2 (95%)

2. Gotham: 47-8 (85%)

3. Windy City: 48-17 (73%)

4. Denver: 38-16 (70%)

5. Rocky Mountain: 46-20 (69%)

5. Kansas City: 39-17 (69%)

7. Naptown: 32-15 (68%)

8. Philly: 48-23 (67%)

9. Texas: 50-25 (66%)

10. Steel City: 31-19 (62%)

Winningest teams by total # of sanctioned WFTDA wins:

1. Texas: 50-25 (66%)

2. Windy City: 48-17 (73%)

2. Philly: 48-23 (67%)

4. Gotham: 47-8 (85%)

5. Carolina: 46-31 (59%)

5. Rocky Mountain: 46-20 (69%)

7. Charm City: 41-27 (60%)

7. Detroit: 41-30 (57%)

9. Kansas City: 39-17 (69%)

10. Oly: 38-2 (95%)

10. Denver: 38-16 (70%)

Teams not listed above, but going to Champs:

Nashville: 26-16 (61%)

Minnesota: 32-22 (59%)

Rose City: 31-21 (59%)

Teams not listed above that just missed Champs:

Houston: 30-30 (50%)

Atlanta: 34-29 (53%)

Bay Area: 30-24 (55%)

Rat City: 30-25 (54%)

Longest unbroken winning streak all-time is Oly at 22, Gotham is #2 with an 18-0 streak.

Longest current unbroken winning streak is Oly at 12; Gotham is right behind with 11.

Currently Windy City has a 23-0 winning streak in the North Central; Gotham has a 14-0 winning streak in the East; Texas has 9-0 in the South Central, Oly has 6-0 in the West.”

Thanks, Justice!

A wonderful friend of Derbylife, let’s call him “Dave”, also crunched the numbers for us! Here are Dave’s results, which include the top ten teams’ records against teams that were ranked in the top ten by DNN at that time, as well as victories against teams that were ranked top 25 by DNN at that time:
